In 1985, Rotary International set a goal of eliminating polio worldwide.
The Rotary Club of Rotorua began contributing funds to the fight against polio shortly afterwards. Smallpox is the only human disease to be eradicated. Rotary is working to make polio the second human disease to be eradicated.
