The Rotary Club of Rotorua Sunflower Spectacular made its debut in February 2026, transforming a paddock into a sea of vibrant yellow blooms and creating one of Rotorua’s newest community experiences.
When the Club first planted sunflowers, there was no guarantee they would thrive in Rotorua’s climate.
Fortunately, they flourished.
Hundreds of visitors came to wander through the fields, capture stunning photos and support an important local cause.
The inaugural event raised more than $25,000 to fund new equipment for Rotorua Hospital’s Children’s Ward. A different charity may be supported in future years’.
While the Sunflower Spectacular has only been held once so far, its success has laid the foundation for something much bigger. Planning is already underway for the 2027 event, with the vision of growing it into the Rotary Club of Rotorua’s flagship fundraising project, bringing together families, businesses, volunteers and visitors while creating lasting benefits for the Rotorua community.
