Some of our smallest community members need some of the biggest support.
The Rotary Club of Rotorua has built a strong partnership with Plunket Whānau Āwhina Rotorua to help provide practical support for local pēpi and their whānau during those important early years.
Our members and volunteers create winter-weight cot blankets, baby floor mats and provide ABC books for young children. Many of these items are made through community sewing sessions where donated materials are repurposed into something practical and meaningful.
This project is about more than blankets and books. For many families, welcoming a new baby brings extra costs and pressures. Providing practical support can make a real difference.
Along the way, our members have discovered some unexpected talents, proving Rotary volunteers can successfully operate sewing machines without requiring emergency assistance.
