OUR PROJECTS

Making a difference
across Rotorua

Through practical projects, partnerships and people, we’re building a stronger, more connected community.

Rotary projects

From supporting our youngest tamariki to caring for our environment and community, these projects are some of the ways we put Service Above Self into action.

Supporting Plunket Whānau Āwhina

We support local pēpi and whānau through handmade blankets, baby mats and books in partnership with Plunket Whānau Āwhina Rotorua.

Investing in Rotorua’s future leaders

Rotary Rotorua invests in the next generation through leadership programmes, public speaking competitions and personal development opportunities. From secondary school students to young adults, our youth initiatives help build confidence, resilience and the skills to become tomorrow's leaders.

Dictionaries in schools

For decades, Rotary Rotorua has provided dictionaries to local schools, giving tamariki a valuable learning resource they can call their own. This long-running project supports literacy, builds confidence and encourages a lifelong love of learning.

Ngongotahā Stream Track

We maintain a section of the Ngongotahā Stream Track near Eliot Park, creating a cleaner, greener and more welcoming space for everyone to enjoy. Through regular planting and maintenance, this project supports biodiversity, community wellbeing and local pride.

Circus Quirkus

We help bring the magic of Circus Quirkus to local children and families, ensuring more young people can enjoy this unique live circus experience. By supporting the event and welcoming attendees, our volunteers help create lasting memories while raising funds for future community projects.

Blood Bank support

We support local blood collection services by welcoming donors and providing refreshments and support after donation. It's a simple way our volunteers help create a positive experience while supporting a service that saves lives every day.

Sunflower Spectacular

The Sunflower Spectacular transforms a paddock into a sea of vibrant blooms, creating a unique community experience while raising funds for Rotorua Hospital Children's Ward. Planning is already underway for an even bigger Sunflower Spectacular in 2027.

Driver Directions

The Driver Directions programme gives young drivers the opportunity to build practical driving skills in a safe, supportive environment. We support this free initiative by volunteering alongside local organisations to help young people develop confidence behind the wheel and make our roads safer for everyone.

Rotorua Community Hospice

Since 2012, the Rotary Club of Rotorua has proudly supported the Rotary Rotorua Hospice Trust, helping provide ongoing support for Rotorua Community Hospice.

Field visits and visiting speakers

The Rotary Club of Rotorua values lifelong learning through field visits and guest speakers. These opportunities give members valuable insights into local businesses, organisations and community initiatives while strengthening connections and inspiring new ideas for service.

Emergency Response Kits and Shelter Boxes

The Rotary Club of Rotorua has supported disaster relief since the 1930s. Through contributions to Emergency Response Kits and ShelterBox, we help provide families affected by disasters with essential supplies, emergency shelter and practical support when they need it most.

Fighting worldwide diseases

The Rotary Club of Rotorua proudly supports Rotary's global mission to eradicate polio. Since the 1980s, our club has contributed to this worldwide effort, helping protect future generations from one of the world's most devastating diseases

Don’t wait for opportunities, create them.
